2007 KNEF Season Closes With Mattox Arena Event

January 2008

The 2007 KNEF (Kansas Nebraska Equestrian Fellowship) season came to a close on November 17 as participants gathered at Mattox Arena in Derby, KS.  Almost 50 people from around the region brought their horses and enjoyed picture-perfect fall weather.  “We started at 1 pm; it was almost 8 pm before everyone had cleared out to return to their homes,” said Don Mayberry, pastor of Pleasantview Baptist Church in Derby, KS and coordinator of KNEF.

Some rode their horses through the trails along the Arkansas River adjacent to the Arena.  Some played relay games on their horses in the Arena.  Some just hung out, fellowshipping with friends they hadn’t seen since the last KNEF event in September.  One family (Ed and Roberta Gray ) brought their Percheron draft horse with a two-wheeled cart and gave rides to kids and “kids-at-heart.”

Just before a 5 pm BBQ dinner, Mayberry gathered the group (see photo) for Bible Study and a prayer time.  He read Romans 1:16, challenging unbelievers to consider the powerful message of salvation God has given in Jesus Christ.  He also challenged believers present to unashamedly bear witness of what God is doing in their lives, using Cowboy Bibles and gospel tracts to initiate conversation with other equestrians they meet each day.

A late January or early February planning session will kick off the 2008 KNEF season of activities.  For more information on the Kansas Nebraska Equestrian Fellowship, contact Don Mayberry at Pleasantview Baptist Church or call 316.788.3734.
