A High Calling - A Message To Ministry Wives

Ephesians 4:1 ….I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
“Have you architected your life in such a way that it makes it impossible for you to be on mission? “ -Tyler Jones
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19-20
Last Sunday, my husband taught on making intentional friendships.
Wow, for a pastor’s wife, this was stepping on my toes just a bit!
I am probably much like you. Our lives pretty much revolve around church. We get in our little routine, don’t we? You have your weekly schedule mapped out. (You know I pray for you on Thursdays, right?)
You have this, that, and other things scheduled precisely where they need to be on your calendar, or on a sticky note, where you can see them, and you fill up those days and hours with good things. With Great things! You check them off as you do them, ask the Lord to bless them, and call it a week.
In the book of John, God tells us the story about Andrew, who after hearing and believing in Jesus, he goes to tell his brother Simon about the Messiah.
Who have you told lately? You personally. Who have you shared your faith with? I am convinced that although we are busy with good things in our lives, this is an area that is sometimes neglected!
Here are just a few brief points from Sunday’s sermon I wanted to share with you. Used with permission, or course!
1. Invest in people. Develop intentional relationships with non-believers.
2. Initiate-Seek them out. Don’t wait for them to walk through the doors of your church. More than likely, they won’t. (I invited 5 strangers who live on my street to a Christmas brunch this year. That was pretty bold, even for me! I think I may have met a few who need the Lord!)
3. Identify- communicate to them clearly and simply (Andrew said, “We have found the Messiah”.)
4. Invite- Lead them toward a commitment as you feel led by the Holy Spirit. John 1:42 “And he brought him to Jesus.”
“When the people of God embrace the mission of God you cannot stop the Kingdom of God from exploding“. -David Platt
What would happen in our churches, in our neighborhoods if we were all serious about this mandate from our Lord?
I would love to hear from you about some ways you connect with lost people in your day to day life. KNCSB Ministry Wives page on Facebook would be a great place to do that. If you are a ministry wife, please email me and I will send you an invitation to join our online group. Let’s encourage each other!
Blessings,
Patti
