Black Church Connection Provides Training, Inspiration
July 2010
On Thursday, May 13, the Wornall Partnership, the church planting ministry of Wornall Road Baptist Church, along with the Kaw Valley Baptist Association (Topeka and Lawrence) and the Blue River-Kansas City Baptist Association conducted a “Black Church Planting Connection” at Wornall Road Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo.
More than 20 planters/leaders gathered for the one-day event which included by church planters Gary Jones and Anthony Andrews as well as John Mark Clifton, pastor of Wornall Road and director of the Wornall Partnership.
Wornall Road Baptist Church affiliated with KNCSB during the 2009 KNCSB annual meeting. Clifton is a former KNCSB staff member.
The day included a barbecue lunch at a famous Kansas City barbecue restaurant and an afternoon at the Royals game.
The purpose of the event says Clifton, was two-fold: first to provide hands-on practical advice on planting churches and just as important to create connections of relationships that God can use to empower these planters in their work.
Based on evaluations of those in attendance, both purposes were well fulfilled.
