Board Learns About 2012 Budget

October 2011

The 2012 KNCSB budget will be very similar to the 2011 budget, members of the KNCSB Mission Board learned.

Bob Mills, KNCSB executive director, discussed the 2012 budget when the Mission Board met on Friday, Sept. 9 in Topeka, Kan. Messengers to the KNCSB annual meeting in Lenexa, Kan., will vote on the 2012 budget during the opening session on Monday night, Oct. 17.

The only major change to the 2012 budget is a proposed 5 percent salary increase for KNCSB mid-level managers and support staff, Mills said. This is to help make up for a 3-percent salary cut in 2011 and no raises the two years before that.

The Mission Board also honored four KNCSB employees for their service to the convention:

  • 40 years – R. Rex “Peck” He stepped down as executive director at the end of 2009. Lindsay has continued to serve KNCSB, working with rural associations and in church health.
  • 20 years – Charles and Janie Wood, estate-planning consultants for the Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptist Foundation. They have been in ministry for 63 years. The Woods served churches in Texas, Wisconsin, Arizona, Oklahoma and Kansas before joining the Foundation staff.
  • 10 years – Georges Boujakly, KNCSB director of missions. Boujakly joined the KNCSB staff as director of language missions. He was named KNCSB director of missions earlier this year.

The board also:

  • Learned about the “Standing in the Gap for Kansas and Nebraska” group on Facebook. By joining this group, you can get updates on how to pray for God’s work in our two states.
  • Voted to change the location for the 2012 KNCSB annual meeting (Oct. 15-16) to Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan. The meeting was scheduled to be held at CrossPoint Church, Hutchinson, Kan. However, the CrossPoint groups of churches will still be the meeting hosts.
