The KNCSB Children’s Bible Drill/Youth Bible Drill and Youth Speakers Tournament were held April 17 in the new chapel at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan. Over 100 people attended the event including the participants, parents, leaders and friends.

The Children’s Bible Drill had 14 participants representing five churches and four associations. There were two children with a perfect score, six winners and six participants.

The three Youth Bible Drillers represented three churches and associations. The first-place winner received a scholarship of $200; second place, $100; third place, $75.

The Youth Speakers Tournament had five youth from three churches and associations. The first-place winner received a scholarship of $200; second place, $100; a two-way tie for third place of $75. We also awarded a fourth place of $50 as all the scores from 2nd place down were within one point of each other.

The scholarships for the youth events are intended to provide financial assistance for the young people to attend any youth function sponsored by their church, the association, the state convention, or the Southern Baptist Convention.

Delores Hanneman, Drill and Tournament Coordinator, led the drill as the coordinator for KNCSB with the able assistance of Barbara Spicer, Discipling Ministry Assistant. Nine adults from Kansas-Nebraska volunteered their time and expertise to serve as judges, timekeeper, and as the tally committee.

The 2011 event is scheduled for April 16. The 2011 Bible Drill and Speakers’ Tournament information brochure will be mailed to the churches in August 2010. We encourage any church not currently involved in a children or youth scripture memorization plan to seriously consider using Bible Drill materials.

To be ready for the State Drill and Tournament in April, it is best to begin the program in September. You may contact Delores Hanneman at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) before the brochure is mailed out for more information or to answer any questions and to help you get started.
