Cool Issues For Kids’ Activities

Have a “really cool, dude” missions program this summer for children in grades 1-6.

Start off with a laptop missions search party. Give each child a location or people group to research on-line and draw names for turns on the computer. Provide support activities for those waiting their turn. Provide a variety of recording media for kids to share what they learn.

Next plan a road trip to a mission opportunity an hour or two from home. Get children involved in mapping the route, preparing ministry items and setting the agenda. Get parents involved with transportation, snacks and permission forms. Share the experience with your church body.

Use “cool” summer curriculum for Girls in Action and Children in Action to heat up excitement as kids learn about Mexican Border missions in June, a wee bit of Scotland missions in July and celebrate Christmas in August. Remember to be creative and break the “normal cycle” of meetings. Get parental permission when needed.

Get hot about staying “cool” this summer doing missions with kids.
