Efficient, Effective, Eternal - Bible Drill!

“I have hidden your work in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11
Knowing scripture is one of the best defenses against our enemy Satan. Jesus continually used scripture against Satan during his temptations in the wilderness. In order to be able to use scripture to combat the enemy, it is important to KNOW it. Scripture memory programs are great tools to prepare our children and youth to stand up against the temptations we all face today.
Many churches in our state convention use the AWANA program or a similar program to engage older children and youth in scripture memory. If your church is one of them, don’t let up—continue encouraging your young people to memorize scripture and become very familiar with their Bibles. If your church has no scripture memory program in place, consider using one of the BEST scripture memory programs available—Bible Drill.
In both Children’s (grades 4-6) and Youth (grades 7-12) Bible Drill, not only is scripture memorized, children and youth become very adept at finding all the books of the Bible and many verses, key passages and doctrines. Each church involved may choose either the New International Version or the Holman Christian Standard Bible to use in both children’s and youth Bible Drill. Leader Guides, memory cards, as well as Bible Reading and Learning Activities for children are available from the state office at no cost. Bible Drill is an inexpensive, but effective way, to prepare our young people for life. To add incentive to the learning process, children and youth may compete at the church and association levels with association winners qualified to compete in the State Drill/Speaker’s Tournament April 16, 2011, at Webster Conference Center in Salina.
As an alternative to Bible Drill, youth in grades 9-12 may choose to participate in the Youth Speaker’s Tournament in which the individual chooses a topic from the current topic list and prepares a 4 to 6 minute inspirational or informative speech. Speakers may also compete at the church, association and state levels.
September is the ideal time to begin Bible Drill to be prepared for the State Drill in April.
Watch for brochures being sent this month to all the churches in our convention briefly explaining the Bible Drill and Speaker programs and providing contact and ordering information. Leaders/Judges Guides for Bible Drill or Speaker Tournament are available any time from the KNCSB office through Barbara Spicer (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)). Specific materials, memory cards, and speaker topic lists for the coming cycles will be available in August.
