God’s Plan For Sharing
By Jon Sapp
September 2010
I have been so encouraged by the way that churches across Nebraska and Kansas continue to reach out to their communities. This summer, I have celebrated over hearing the number of lives touched by VBS, church camps and Super Summer; individuals intentionally sharing their faith with friends and family; and campuses where new work is beginning. God is doing a new thing among us and we all need to rejoice as we see Him at work! But I would like to introduce to new opportunities to continue to keep the momentum going and to prepare us to be God’s light set on the hill of our communities.
“Standing in the Gap” is a new prayer focus I am introducing across Kansas-Nebraska. The vision of God’s Plan for Sharing is, “every believer sharing and every person hearing” the good news of Jesus by 2020. All across our two state area we have specific towns, communities or groups of people that don’t have consistent access to this good news. Let’s begin by asking the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into those communities. Those attending the Wonderful Weekend for Women, 17-18 September will have the opportunity to get all of us started in this prayer focus. Then in Lexington, Nebraska during the Annual Meeting those attending will have the chance to pray across KNCSB and “Stand in the Gap” for those that have yet not heard the gospel. The prayer items and presentation will be available at both meetings for you to take back to your church and begin intentionally praying for these places that need the hope and light of the Good News. You can also write me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and I will gladly get you this information.
The second opportunity available this year is “CrossOver Central Nebraska.” On Monday morning, 11 October in both Lexington and Kearney we are going to meet to PrayWalk these two cities. This year as the State Convention Meeting begins my desire is that central Nebraska will have experienced a number of us praying specifically for families, churches and their ministries that God’s power and provision would be known in these two cities. Please plan to come and join with us in praying as we walk, drive or visit during the morning hours from 9-11 on that Monday. I know that God is going to use this in our own lives as well as the lives of those that we will be praying for!
In dealing with the “Sowing” aspect of God’s Plan for Sharing, I have discovered a new training tool to equip each of us in sharing our faith. In John 5, Jesus is talking with the Jewish leadership about testimonies. Jesus challenged this group to listen to a variety of clear voices telling or showing of God’s impact upon their lives. Jesus reminds them of how he listened to the testimony of John the Baptist. Then, Jesus goes on to state that the work He is doing also shows the truth of where He came from and what He was doing.
Today, each of us has the same opportunity to sow the seeds of the gospel as we share our experience with a loving and redemptive Heavenly Father. Telling your personal story of how you came to faith and what that means for you today allows you to experience God using you. God wants to be known and worshiped. We are blessed to join Him in that process. “More to Life, Engaging Through Story” is a tool to equip us in telling our story of His work in our lives. Any new beginning contains excitement and anticipation. May you continue to be light and salt in all of your new beginnings as you make Him known and participate in God’s Plan for Sharing.
