Heart To Heart

“How I wish I could be with you now…” Galatians 4:20.

As I read this verse, I think isn’t this the reason we love social networks. WE ALL LONG FOR CONNECTION!

In the last year, my heart has hurt as dear friends and ministry team leaders left our church to start a new church. There were seven in all who left, and it felt like every aspect of my ministry was impacted by their absence. They left for a good cause, to do the very things the LORD desires for all of us to do, but I grieved the loss of my friends.

When I walked into church I found myself thinking; “Who will I sit with now? LORD, I am lonely. I miss my friends. Why did they leave?”

In my weakest moments, why bother making friends popped into my head! I suddenly found myself catapulted into connecting with others, but not with my whole heart. My connection factor became weak when my sweet sisters left. I now have a better understanding of why Paul wrote Galatians 4:20. He feared the Galatians were falling prey to weak and miserable principles that might destroy their walk with God. I was surprised at how dependent I had become with my trusted friends.

The LORD has since revealed to me that my truest connection factor can and will only be filled by Him. I now have become intentional in seeking Him first and then asking; “Who else do I need to connect with today? How can I show someone the true connection factor?”

Once I accepted the new circumstances, the LORD surprised me with a bigger social network and a greater understanding of how HE longs to be with me NOW!

What does your connection factor look like today? Do you feel connected to God?

I wish I could be with you now to connect with you — face to face… heart to heart.
