Heart To Heart

August 2009

“Salvation belongs to the Lord; May Your blessing be upon Your people.  Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!” Psalms 3:8 (AMP)

I have been thinking a lot about the importance of taking time to pause.

Yesterday, I took the time to smell roses. The hint of their fragrant aroma delighted my senses. My pause gave me delight.

But there are pauses in my life that are perceived as dangerous. Do you know the danger of pause? If I don’t do this, then…; I must do this or…  Fear seems to rob me of the delight of “pause.” Fear robs me of enjoying the blessings of the LORD.

The reason I took the time to “pause” to smell the roses came from a conversation I had with a friend on the phone. I could hear the pressure of “I must” in her voice and tone. The pressure mounting in her outer world robbed both of us of the “delight of pause” to enjoy each other. At first, I took great offense by her lack of “pause” for me, but then the LORD convicted me of my own sin in this area. How many times had I felt the “danger of pause” and thereby robbed myself and others of the “delight in pause?”

“Mommy, will you teach me how to draw an eagle?”

“Not now, Grant, I have to…”

“Mom, can we go to the mall?”

“Mikayla, I don’t have time for that…”

“Hon, will you be home at lunch today?”

“Sorry, I have to…”

LORD, I am so sorry I have robbed myself and those near me of the “delight of pause.” Please help me to simply enjoy the blessings of the moment You present to me! In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

Today, I will pause! How about you?

I wish I could be with you now to pause and simply enjoy the blessings of the LORD — face to face, heart to heart.
Simply,
Tara
