Kansas-Nebraska Singing Men Plan Concert Mission Trip To Portugal

December 2007

Believers in the country of Portugal comprise only .016 percent of the total population.  Cathedrals are numerous in the cities and towns but serve more as historical edifices than places of regular worship.

Local evangelical pastors and congregations are attempting to begin new ministries in homes and community locations.  Our Kansas-Nebraska Singing Men will partner with these pastors and congregations and our International Mission Board missionaries to assist them in this goal.  The Singing Men will travel to Lisbon, Portugal, next April 17-25 for a concert/mission project.

The Singing Men will sing 2-3 concerts each day while in Lisbon and the surrounding area.  The people of Portugal love the arts and will respond to an invitation to attend a free concert.  These concerts will be held in local churches, city parks, community centers, and as they travel in public venues.

In addition to these opportunities, the Singing Men have been invited to appear as the featured choir for an association of evangelical churches’ choir festival.  Also, the men have been approached about singing on television and radio while in the country.

Please pray for the leadership in Lisbon and the Singing Men officers as they seek to finalize plans that will have the most impact for expanding Kingdom work in this country.

Our missionaries and local pastors believe the music of these concerts will serve as an open door to begin communication about starting new works in local neighborhoods.

Since some of the wives of the Singing Men will accompany them on this trip, ministry opportunities with women and children is also being organized in conjunction with the concert ministries.

The Kansas-Nebraska Singing Men includes those involved in music/worship and other ministry areas in local Kansas-Nebraska congregations.  A few of the men serve full-time in their ministry positions and others serve bivocationally or as volunteers.

Individual financial expenses to participate in this trip is a great sacrifice for some of these men and their families.

If you or your congregation would consider partnering with one of these men to provide scholarship assistance, please contact David Manner at ; (785) 228-6800; or 5410 SW 7th Street, Topeka, KS 66606.
