LifeWay Announces 2011 Vacation Bible School Themes

Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptist churches have wrapped up the 2010 Vacation Bible School season. But diehard VBS enthusiasts know it is never too early to start planning for next year.
Vacation Bible School can be a church’s most effective outreach event.
LifeWay Christian Resources recently announced its 2011 VBS theme: “Big Apple Adventure™: Where Faith and Life Connect.” The theme verse is “So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.” — Romans 10:17 (HCSB®) The motto is, “Hear it! Believe it! Connect it!”
Daily themes for children in grades 1-6 are:
Day 1: Connect with Faith!
Bible Story: The Centurion Acts in Faith (Matthew 8:5-13)
Life Application: I can have faith in Jesus.
Day 2: Connect with Love!
Bible Story: A Woman Responds with Love (Luke 7:36-38,44-48)
Life Application: I can love Jesus.
Day 3: Connect with Trust!
Bible Story: Nicodemus Chooses to Trust (John 3:1-18; 19:38-42)
Life Application: I can trust Jesus as my Savior.
Day 4: Connect with Others!
Bible Story: The Samaritan Woman Tells Others (John 4:1-30, 39-42)
Life Application: I can tell others about Jesus.
Day 5: Connect with Life!
Bible Story: The Disciples Receive Instruction (Acts 1:1-11)
Life Application: I can live for Jesus.
“Club VBS: Beach Blast” is LifeWay’s second curriculum line for 2011. Club VBS offers a flexible format, including a two-hour schedule for five days, or a one-hour schedule for 10 days.
The theme Scripture verse is, “God is faithful.” (1 Corinthians 1:9) And the motto is: “God is faithful. I can dig it!”
Daily themes for children in grades 1-6 are:
Day 1: Dig into God’s Promises
Bible Story: Jesus is Born (Matthew 1:18-2:12)
Memory Verse: Luke 2:11
Life Application: God keeps his promises, so I can believe Him.
Day 2: Dig into God’s Provision
Bible Story: Jesus Feeds 5,000 (Mark 6:30-44)
Memory Verse: Philippians 4:19
Life Application: God meets needs, so I can thank Him.
Day 3: Dig into God’s Power
Bible Story: Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4:35-41)
Memory Verse: Jeremiah 33:3
Life Application: God has the power to answer prayer, so I can talk and listen to Him.
Day 4: Dig into God’s Plan
Bible Story: Jesus Teaches Nicodemus (John 3:1-21)
Memory Verse: John 3:16
Life Application: God loves me and sent Jesus to be my Savior and Lord, so I can become a Christian.
Day 5: Dig into God’s Presence
Bible Story: The Holy Spirit Comes (Acts 2:1-47)
Memory Verse: Matthew 28:19-20
Life Application: God is always present, so I can trust Him and tell others about Him.
