Men’s Retreat Opens Doors For Men’s Ministry

The first annual KNCSB Men’s Retreat, entitled Celebrating Manhood Through Ministry, was held at Webster Conference Center on November 17-18, 2006.

Eighty-four men and presenters united to make the event an exciting success. Ten associations and 32 different churches were represented.

Evaluations and feedback from the participants overwhelming indicated that a men’s retreat each year was most appreciated and would be eagerly anticipated.

LifeWay Christian Resources sponsored the Retreat along with KNCSB’s Men’s Ministry by providing Men’s Fraternity training. Courses and training included a wide-variety of areas of ministry and of concern for men.

Some of the ministry opportunities focused on: ministry to military families, dealing with conflict, ministry to special needs individuals in churches, innovative ministries, personal evangelism, general helping and meeting needs ministries, getting ready for a mission trip, and various men’s and boy’s ministries.

As a result of the retreat’s success in equipping and motivating men, men eagerly indicated their desire to return to their churches to help to facilitate more meaningful ministry in their churches. Others indicated that the retreat has convinced them that men’s ministry needs to be continually affirmed in their church.

Next year’s retreat will be held again at Webster Conference Center, but will be held earlier in the year on October 19-20, 2007.
