Midwestern Seminary Announces Fall Preview Day

August 2009

MIDWESTERN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, KANSAS CITY, MO. –Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary & College, SBC, will open its doors here on Sept. 4 to anyone interested in learning more about the school.

MBTS’s fall Preview Day takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provides potential students and their families a first-hand glimpse into seminary life. The MBTS staff has a full day of activities planned that include campus tours, attending classes and one-on-one interaction with school leadership and faculty.

“There’s no better way to discern God’s will - as to whether or not to attend
the school - than to come and actually walk on the campus and meet the people,” said Dr. David McAlpin, Vice President of Student Development at MBTS. “By seeing the school first-hand, it helps you to identify the school’s unique personality and to sense the particular passions that drive the vision of school’s leadership.”

Prospective students will also have access to information about the academic programs, ranging from undergraduate to doctoral, as well as the application and financial aid aspects of enrolling.

“Usually, by the end of the day, a student will know whether or not Midwestern is the place God is calling him or her to prepare for ministry,” McAlpin added.

For those arriving early, the MBTS Fall Picnic will be hosted on Sept. 3 at 5 p.m.  Visitors can interact with current students and their families about campus life from a personal perspective.

“One of the best ways to truly learn about a school is to talk to people who are already involved there,” said Pat Hudson, MBTS Director of Communications.  “Our visitors can ask questions that they might not ordinarily ask in a larger group setting.  This helps them leave with the information they truly wanted, and hopefully it leads them to join us at MBTS in the future.”
