More GPS

We are now in the holiday season and our minds are filled with family, food, and fastidiously planned church programs. It is hard to think, or be concerned, about anything else. That’s just the way it is this time of year. But, I’m going to swim upstream, and ask you to think with me, one more time (but not the last time), about God’s Plan for Sharing (GPS).
You will remember that this is a God-sized endeavor to share the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone in North America by the year 2020. This first of many emphases will revolve around Easter 2010.
We are encouraging churches across Kansas-Nebraska to (1) PrayerWalk their communities; (2) Engage church members to be trained as witnesses; (3) Sow the Gospel seed by placing door hangers containing a Gospel presentation and an invitation to Easter services; and (4) Harvesting the new believers that God will draw into His Kingdom.
On Friday, November 20, after hearing from our Associational Directors of Missions, we ordered over 350,000 Gospel presentations (drop-ins) and plastic bag door hangers for the churches of KNCSB. We will also provide yard banners for every participating church. The Gospel drop-ins and yard banners will be complimented by the media blitz on TV and radio. The radio and TV spots, the Gospel drop-ins and the banners will invite people to visit http://www.findithere.com or to call the Evangelism Response Center toll free number.
Both of these venues provide a clear presentation of the saving message of Jesus Christ. I hope you are beginning to get excited about what God is going to do this next Easter.
Never before has there been such a saturation of our nation with the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is going to be made even more special as the members of our churches become personally involved in praying for the lost, distributing the Gospel, and seeing new believers born into the Kingdom.
I know of nothing that will enhance the health of the local congregation more than being intentional about reaching the communities around them with the message of God’s love and saving power of Jesus Christ.
When a church catches the passion of the Lord for the lost, and begins to live out that passion, there is neither time nor place for quarreling, bickering and all the other self-centered things that distract us from the mission of the Great Commission.
In over 46 years of ministry, I have yet to find a church that was having internal strife whose members were passionately evangelistic. The best antidote for the ails of discordant congregations are hearts that are broken over the lostness of men around them. May we be serious about God’s Plan for Sharing!
