Be sure to call all your friends and join us Sept. 12-13 at Webster Conference Center for Wonderful Weekend for Women!
Diane Nix will be our Bible study leader. Just before Hurricane Katrina hit, she and her husband moved to New Orleans so he could become a professor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. They lost everything to the hurricane.
Diane’s first priority is her family. “Her second passion is speaking to women and teaching them to be the women God created them to be,” according to her Web site. Learn more about her at http://dianenix.com/
Our theme this year is “Spilling Over” and our theme verse is John 7:38 from The Message: “… Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.”
Verse 37 says that Jesus “took his stand” and issued a cry, which included these words. He did this as the people were celebrating the climactic end of the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), which included:
- A joyous ceremony of “water pouring” to give thanks for the previous year’s rain.
- Petitioning God for rain for the coming year’s crops.
- Picturing the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that was to come during the 1000-year reign of the Messiah.
What a great picture for our women’s weekend! We will acknowledge Christ for who He is and praise Him during our worship sessions. We’ll prepare for the journey He has in store for us through times of Bible study and conferences. Throughout the weekend we’ll share the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as we make new friends and enjoy the old, teach, encourage, and pray for each other.
As Jesus celebrated His last Sukkot on earth, He wanted the people to know that He was the true source of Living Water.
Last year we acknowledged our thirst; this year let’s celebrate that He has filled us to overflowing and given us more than enough to get others wet!
