Prayer Needs For Portugal
By Mari Jaquith
February 2008
You can be an integral part of our partnership with Portugal by praying for the country and our workers there. Here are specific prayer requests from Don Dixon, missionary strategist in Portugal:
“Portugal is a country that has suffered more than its share of hardship and religious confusion from Catholic and Muslim dictators.
“Yet today, Portugal seems to be strategically positioned to experience a spiritual awakening and, many believe, a key to the evangelization of Western Europe.
“Please ask the Lord’s will and leading of those He wants to call to meet the additional personnel needs in Portugal. The needs include two new couples to do evangelism (using a variety of methods and means) and church planting of house, small group or cell churches in the second largest city of Porto, on the beautiful northern coast.
“Only one IMB couple is currently serving there and they are in first-year language study. More workers are urgently needed for this metropolitan area of over two million, where less than 2 percent are evangelical Christians.
“In the capital, the historic and scenic coastal city of Lisbon, there are 3-4 million residents. Only slightly more than 2 percent are evangelical Christians and many of them are African or Brazilian immigrants. At least two new couples are needed in general and marketplace evangelism leading to church-planting movements through one of the small group models.
“Two female journeymen are needed for youth and university work, especially through the arts.
“A female summer volunteer missionary is also needed to work with volunteer teams from the United States.”
Thank you for joining me in praying for these identified needs. If you would like to hear more about this partnership, please contact me at KNCSB (800) 984-9092, or
I would love to share with your church more about Portugal and how you can participate in this missions partnership.
