Prolife Kansas 2008 Statewide Gathering

December 2007

Churches, ministries, and praying people across Kansas are preparing for Prolife Kansas 2008, a statewide call to repentance and prayer to end abortion in Kansas.

The gathering will be January 22, 2008 in Topeka at the Kansas Ballroom of the Topeka-West Holiday Inn. Prayer and worship will begin at 10 a.m. at this location and continue into the 6 p.m. main event. More details are available online at ProlifeKansas.blogspot.com.

Meanwhile, the number of sponsors for Prolife Kansas 2008 is growing. It includes Kansans for Life, the Christian newspapers Metro Voice and The Chronicle, Bott Radio Network, The Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists, Kansas Prayer Mission, Truth in Love Outreach, and a number of churches and pro-life ministries.

“Christians for Life supports this endeavor and is honored to be part of such a holy calling.  We want to see abortion ended in Kansas and in our nation,” says Barbara Saldivar, Founder & Director of Christians For Life.

Another pro-life group, Kansans for Life, is planning a 10:30 a.m. rally the same day on the south Capitol steps. The two organizations are coordinating together to act politically and spiritually on what will be the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

“If we’re going to change the political and cultural landscape of Kansas, we’ll have to change the spiritual atmosphere over Kansas,” says event coordinator and pastor David Epps. “Only God can do that.”

Prolife Kansas is encouraging 40 days of prayer and fasting to lay a solid foundation for the historic gathering. This prayer initiative began on December 13 and leads up to the statewide prayer gathering in January. It’s not too late to be added to the email prayer list.

To sign up, just send a blank email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). You will receive daily prayer alerts intended to prepare hearts for the January meeting in Topeka. The organizers are aware that this time period for fasting includes the holiday season, so they are suggesting you celebrate as you feel led while also remembering the unborn.

Prayer is the key according to Donna Lippoldt of Heartbeat Ministries in Wichita.  “As the people of the great state of Kansas gather at the Legislative seat in Topeka, where abortion was made legal, we will be asking God to bring our state to its knees and end abortion once and for all.”

The Prolife Kansas meeting will be structured around repentance and worship warfare. According to Epps, “With all that’s happening in the state regarding the abortion issue, it seems our timing is right for this statewide meeting.

Our goal is to place our Lord and King on His throne in Kansas through repentance and worship, and then ask Him to reign by engaging the spiritual forces of darkness in warfare for the sake of the unborn and victims of abortion.” There is no keynote speaker or preaching planned.
