By Cheryl Cooke
August 2009
“I love the atmosphere of being at Webster Conference Center with just girls. The purity talks were just for us and meant so much.”
“I like talking with girls my own age about stuff I am going through.”
“I like the fact that the speakers were able to focus on just the girls and how they addressed issues females of this day have to deal with.”
“The weekend changed my life.”
“I love being here! There is no pressure of boys being around and you can tune in to what God is saying.”
Such are the statements being said in response to what girls like about SHINE!
SHINE is a weekend conference at Webster Conference Center for young ladies in grades 7-12. The weekend consists of praise and worship, teaching, break out groups, work projects, late-night pajama parties, and plenty of laughing and talking!!
“True Life” will be the theme of this year’s conference with John 10:10 as the verse for the event. Time will be spent on the real-life issues of young adult ladies in 2009.
This year our worship leader is Jaime Jamgochian! Please check out her Web site at http://www.jaimejam.com.
The students will spend some time on work projects around Webster Conference Center. They will also be bringing items and assembling diaper bags for new moms at the Pregnancy Crisis Center as they put missions into action. In addition, an offering will be collected to purchase solar-powered playback devices for a missionary to use in Africa.
Friday night will find the girls in a giant Pajama party with a carnival atmosphere.
SHINE will take place Nov. 13-14. Information and registration packets will be arriving late August. Registrations, money and medical release forms will be due Oct. 6.
