Strength For The Task

In a sex-saturated culture where many Christian teens follow the world’s moral standards, parents and youth workers face a daunting task in modeling purity.

Rachel Hinde, a 26-year-old staff member at a crisis pregnancy center, was one of the conference leaders during the annual KNCSB Strength for the Task conference.

Hinde shared how she was saved as a teen, but she backslid into immoral behavior that resulted in her own crisis pregnancy. After repenting of her sin and moving back home to Kansas, Hinde is trying to keep girls from going down her former path.

“I am able to speak to girls because I’ve lived both ways.”

In today’s society, 43 percent of Christian teens have had sex by the time they turn 18, she said.

But purity is about more than abstinence, she said. “Purity is about having a pure mind. It’s a lifelong process as a Christian.”
