Super Summer 2008, Another Great Year Of Ministry
By Greg Savage
September 2008
Super Summer has once again come and gone. The intense heat of the summer could not quench the mighty Spirit of God as He worked and did great and marvelous things in the hearts of students from Kansas and Nebraska.
This summer saw records broken in the number of salvations and in our offerings. However, we are not so concerned about records but the many lives that were eternally changed and impacted. It is for those changing hearts we praise our Father in Heaven.
I wanted to quickly thank each of you for your fervent prayers for Super Summer. Once again your prayers showed that God is true to His Word and the prayer of the righteous are powerful and effective. Thank you very much.
Check out the grand totals for Super Summer 2008:
- Salvations: 158 (New Record)
- Assurance of Salvation: 35
- Baptisms: 10
- Rededications: 116
- Vocational Service 73
- Special Prayer: 108
- Other Decisions: 40
- Offering: $22,959.08 (Wow!! Praise the Lord! Another record)
Before the summer comes to an end and the heat of the summer is tamed by the bitter Kansas-Nebraska winters, would you be willing to commit to continue to pray for our students in Kansas and Nebraska? Most of the campers this summer made life-changing decisions for Christ. Many decided to wake up and get serious about their walk with God. Even more made first-time decisions to become a Christ follower. No matter, their decision, they all enter back into the real world of school. They will be pounded from every direction. On behalf of our students, don’t stop praying for them.
On the last full day of Super Summer we have the infamous B.L.A.S.T. tournament. Everyone dresses up in really strange outfits and wears their team colors proudly. Too many of our students are going home wearing various masks and costumes hoping no one will know who they really are.
For many, the week of Super Summer is the only time they are allowed to really take off their mask and be who they were created to be. Would you pray that our students will have the courage to be who God designed them to be and not feel a need to wear the masks that have become so comfortable to wear?
Pray they will have courage to be a Christ follower, not only at Super Summer but also in their schools and homes. Each student is going home to a unique environment and one that is difficult in many ways.
As they leave Super Summer, we always remind them that God does not live at Webster Conference Center. Pray they will wake up, take a stand for Christ, and become real difference makers in their special place in this world.
Finally, pray for our Youth Evangelism Staff. We will be in meetings on August 22-23 making plans for Super Summer 2009 and finalizing plans for In.D.E.P.T.H. 2008. Speaking of In.D.E.P.T.H., the dates of this conference are Dec. 30-31. It is not too early to be praying for this great conference.
Once again, thank you for your fervent prayers this summer and your continued prayers for our students and student ministries in Kansas and Nebraska.
