Super Summer Campers Urged To Embrace God’s Call

September 2010

Super Summer campers were challenged to respond to God “right now.”

Campers at Super Summer 2010 looked at the life of Moses as they examined “Journey,” the camp theme.

Although no records were set during the six weeks of camp, it was still a “very strong summer in all categories,” said Terry McIlvain, KNCSB director of youth ministries.

Here is a look at Super Summer 2010 statistics:

  • Total campers: 2,656
  • Professions of faith: 109
  • Campers receiving assurance of salvation: 32
  • Candidates for baptism: 12
  • Rededications: 143
  • Commitments to vocational Christian service: 27
  • Total offering:  $12,563

The offering was divided 50 percent between KNCSB disaster relief and for new chairs in remodeling the main chapel at Webster Conference Center.

Chad Poe, from Chattanooga, Tenn., was camp pastor for Weeks 1-2. He told how Moses was raised in Pharaoh’s home while his people, the Israelites, were mistreated.

During an ill-fated trip to West Virginia, Poe and his traveling companions ended up staying in a dumpy motel. He asked himself, “How did I end up here?”

Moses asked himself the same question when he ended up tending his father-in-law’s sheep in the desert. However, God spoke to him and called him from the burning bush.

In the same way, God is calling Super Summer campers, Poe said. “God is calling you right now.”

He continued, “The perfect time to do things — it never comes.

“God’s call is immediate. Will you embrace that calling of God for your life?”

Super Summer campers are now back in school. Please pray for them to live the commitments they made at camp.
