The Importance Of Preparation

The Wonderful Weekend for Women is just over two months away. If you are planning to attend WWW (and we hope you are) you are probably already beginning to make plans for that weekend. If you are employed you may be talking to your boss or supervisor about plans to take the day off or leave early on Friday. You may be adjusting family schedules for childcare and meals.
Hopefully you are preparing spiritually by praying for the speaker, musicians, conference leaders, and yourself and friends who will attend. It is not too early to seek God’s face and ask for an outpouring of His Spirit on those who will be there.
It is also timely to begin to consider your participation in the offering that will be received in the Friday evening service. Several opportunities exist, including the Touch Tomorrow Today offering, named for former Executive Director Yvonne Keefer. This offering helps to support the work of national Woman’s Missionary Union, and when our giving to this fund totals $10,000, a portion of additional gifts will be returned to Kansas/Nebraska to fund work here.
Another opportunity is the Kelly Shelton Women’s Leadership Fund, named for a young woman from Kansas who lost her life while preparing for her new role with the Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries several years ago. Monies from this fund are used to provide training in spiritual leadership for women in our two-state convention.
I hope you are praying about the offering God would have you give for the furtherance of His kingdom work. You will be blessed when you do. II Corinthians 9:11-12 says, “You will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.”
