Truth: SHINE 2010

August 2010
“If you wear our bracelets on your wrist for 24 hours a day, you will develop beautiful, muscular arms without ever lifting a dumbbell or entering a gym!”
“If you will use this cream, people will be asking if you had a face-lift! They will think you are 10 years younger than you are!”
“I promise I will call you back next week, and we will get together!”
Have you ever believed a lie? What reverberations did it have in your life? Some lies leave us feeling a bit foolish. Some hurt deeply, and some cause us to be caught in a world we did not want to enter. The world is filled with lies that capture our young ladies.
TRUTH! This will be the theme at this year’s SHINE retreat. We will be checking out the lies that girls may believe about God, their faith, sin, their values, relationships and what makes them valuable. They will discover the truth and how it will set them free! The event is designed for young ladies grades 6-12. It will take place November 12-13, at Webster Conference Center.
Jami Smith will be leading in worship and also sharing her heart in teaching with the girls. Jami has been with us before and has a desire for young ladies to grow in their walk with Jesus. You can check out her music and ministry at http://www.jamismith.com.
Friday night will be highlighted with a giant PJ party, complete with a Sundae bar and gym activities. There will not be a lack of girl talk and much laughing!
In addition to the worship, learning and relationship building, we will have several opportunities for mission related projects and speakers. One project will include a huge leaf-raking party at Webster Conference Center. Groups are encouraged to bring rakes to ensure that each student will have the ability to participate! Details concerning the other projects will be clarified closer to the time of the event.
If you have not received a registration packet, you can contact Heidi Nelson at the KNCSB office. Registrations will be due October 5.
The truth is that it will be a great opportunity for the young ladies you know to take some time to discover more of who Jesus is and the relationship He desires. They may just need you to be the one to invest some time and effort by bringing them to SHINE this year!
