Tyler Road Calls Jones As Pastor

March 2007

WICHITA, Kan. – Tyler Road Southern Baptist Church will welcome a veteran Southern Baptist leader as their new pastor on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007. Bryan C. Jones and his wife Vashti Jones, from Junction City accepted the call from Tyler Road on March 4, 2007.
Bryan has been the pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Junction City since 1997 and is no stranger to the Southern Baptist State Convention. He is currently serving his 11th year as recording secretary for KNCSB.  He has held a variety of offices, has served on many committees and has directed youth and children’s camps on both the state and local levels. Vashti is currently employed as Associate, Planning and Logistics for the Women in Missions and Ministry Department for KNCSB and is the president-elect for Kansas Nebraska WMU.

Bryan and Vashti have served in the ministry for over 30 years and are excited about the opportunities in Wichita. “Tyler Road couldn’t be in a better location in the city. Plus, Wichita has huge ministry opportunities through the universities and the military,” says Jones.

The Pastor Search Committee began their quest for a new pastor in March, 2006 after Bryan Richardson left for a ministry position in Texas. Through the interim period, Tyler Road was blessed with great leadership and preaching from men including Peck Lindsay, Tim Boyd, Bob Mills and George Boujakly.

“We were looking for a strong leader, a good preacher and someone that could make things happen. We found all of that in Bryan Jones. God made it very clear to the whole committee and the church that this was the man for Tyler Road,” says Teresa Williams, chairperson of the Pastor Search Committee.

Tyler Road Southern Baptist Church is entering its 47th year of ministry to West Wichita.
