Vacation Bible School is a church’s most evangelistic event, participants in a KNCSB training clinic were reminded.

About 200 people gathered Saturday, March 8, for the annual VBS Jumpstart Clinic at First Southern Baptist Church, Salina, Kan.

The event focused on the 2008 VBS curriculum lines from LifeWay Christian Resources. “Outrigger Island: Living God’s Unshakeable Truth” is the main
curriculum. It is based on Psalm 86:11 with the motto of “Know the Truth! Speak the Truth! Live the Truth!”

“Outrigger Island” may be used in a church or mission Vacation Bible School aimed at preschool children through adults. It also is available in Spanish for
preschool and children.

Each day is known as a “Wave,” and the themes are:

Wave 1 Truth: “God is Real”
Wave 2 Truth: “Jesus is God’s Son”
Wave 3 Truth: “Jesus is the Only Way” Wave 4 Truth: “The Bible is God’s Word”
Wave 5 Truth: “My Actions Show What I Believe”

Veteran VBS teacher Lois Mercer led a conference on VBX during the Jumpstart Clinic.

“This is such a critical age,” she said of pre-teens because they are deciding what role God will play in their lives.

LifeWay’s second VBS curriculum for 2008 is “Club VBS: Cactus Canyon.” It is based on John 3:16 with a theme of “Saddle Up! Tell Others!” Club VBS
may be used in a church or mission Vacation Bible School. It also is easily adaptable for mission trips and shortterm Bible study events.

Each day is known as a “Trail Ride” and the themes are:

Trail Ride 1: “Good News!”
Life Application: ‘I can know that Jesus is the Good News, the Savior.”
Trail Ride 2: “Good News for My Family!”
Life Application: “I can tell my family members about Jesus.”
Trail Ride 3: “Good News for My Friends!”
