WCC To Use Fundraisers To Complete Effort On Multi-Purpose Building
June 2007
SALINA-To assist WCC in attaining additional funds, the leadership of WCC has enlisted help to reach the goal of $800,000 to finish the new building by securing two fundraising consultants, Leo Pauls and Bev Jackson.
Leo is a member of Twelfth Avenue Baptist in Emporia, KS and has worked extensively in the area of fundraising for several entities. He is married, with two children, and has served as Executive Director for the Jones Institute for Educational Excellence, as well as the prestigious Renaissance Group. He has also served as the President of the National Teachers Hall of Fame and has lobbied in the Kansas Legislature and The Congress in Washington, D.C. He can be reached at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Bev is a member of Faith Baptist in Andover, KS and is recently retired from Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita to allow more time for family and ministry. She is married, with two children, and has been involved as a business analyst, helping Boeing apply for its first cycle of Baldrige Criteria assessment with the Kansas Award for Excellence in 1999. She continued to volunteer for the KAE for five years, gaining expertise in the use of the Baldrige Criteria through writing applications, assessing other company’s applications, site visits and team leadership of examination teams. This measure has become necessary due to a drastic rise in building costs. The Law of Supply and Demand is being experienced daily at WCC. Escalating building costs, due in large part to increased construction in the area (as a result of the troop buildup at nearby Fort Riley), are causing the cost of completing the new building to increase daily. For example, when seeking low bids to purchase the plywood to sheet the roof, the price was high but within reason. Within two hours, that price increased $2.00 per sheet and the total cost for this portion of the project increased $1,200.00. Multiply this by every purchase made and you can see why more money must be raised to complete the building. Once again, we must trust our Lord to provide!
As we turned to God for solutions to these rising costs, He raised up another generous offer from a family who has already given huge amounts of financial help for the Multi-Purpose Building. This family has issued a challenge to all Southern Baptist Churches and individuals to give more. They are willing to match any gift, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000.00. Your gift is immediately doubled by this offer. As God moves you to give, send your check or pledge payable to WCC and indicate it is for the “2007 WCC Challenge Grant”. Mail your gifts to WCC at 5410 S.W. 7th Street in Topeka, KS 66606-2398.
