Yvonne Keefer: ‘A Leader Among Leaders’

Yvonne Keefer impacted my life in a way few have. Not only was she my boss but she was my friend, mentor and confidant. I could always go to her with any problem and know that she had time for me and that she would give me the best advice she could.
Yvonne was a leader among leaders. She believed that every woman could do more than she was doing if only she was given the proper training and the opportunity to try. There are dozens of women throughout Kansas -Nebraska that she watched, prayed for and groomed to be leaders as quickly or slowly as they were willing to grow. She had the ability to see their potential in ways that few could.
She invested a lot in my life in the 12 years that I worked for her. I pray that I will be worthy of the investment of not only her time but the Cooperative Program dollars that she trained me with.
One of the ways that she invested in me was through our International Partnership with the Jordanian Baptists. I desperately wanted to go on an international trip. She told me, “Wait for a while.”
Several years later she helped me take my first internationhal trip. It was funded through Kansas-Nebraska WMU. She opened the door that has stayed open these last 14 years. I’ve been on trips to Jordan, Israel, Egypt, and Canada. She helped me when I was about 13 years old and felt the call to international missions. She will always have a special place in my heart.
