Coach Training Opportunities
January 2011
One of the most effective things any of us can do to see God’s empowerment in our ministry is coaching others to succeed in their ministries. Coaching allows you to help others discover the actions needed and take necessary steps toward fulfilling the vision God has placed in their hearts.
The Next Level Leadership Network has partnered with CoachNet International Ministries for the purpose of training and establishing a certification process for coaches. By partnering with CoachNet International Ministries, the coaching process ensures a common standard for equipping emerging leaders as they pursue God’s calling. This opportunity provides a great way to learn and sharpen coaching skills through the discipling of leaders of any age! Next Level Leadership Network utilizes existing relationships with convention partners to provide training and certification.
There are four levels of coaching training provided through the Next Level Leadership Network and the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists.
1. Nurturing- The basic training/overview is delivered in a one-hour workshop entitled, Next Level Coaching to Equip and Empower. This session conveys basic principles and techniques anyone can use to encourage emerging leaders to pursue their calling. This session challenges those responsible for nurturing emerging leaders to use their position of influence to lead emerging leaders to gain ministry experience, increase their knowledge and answer God’s call.
2. Equipping Level I- The second level of training is offered through a three-hour workshop entitled: Next Level Network Coaching (Basic). This workshop builds on the basic principles introduced in Coaching to Equip and Empower and is designed for men and women who have been serving in a ministerial leadership role and seek to serve as a coach. Coaching techniques will be practiced and honed through a targeted coaching relationship with an emerging ministerial leader. Participants will be taught how to use coaching techniques, resources, methods and ministry guidance plans in a coaching relationship. Individuals completing this training should expect to engage in ministry guidance relationships as emerging leaders in the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists are referred to them for coaching.
3. Equipping Level II- The third level of training offered as a six-hour workshop entitled: Next Level Network Coaching (Advanced). This workshop builds on the principles covered in the basic version by exploring advanced coaching principles and techniques. Individuals completing this training are expected to engage in ministry guidance coaching relationships as emerging leaders in the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists are referred to them. Training is provided by Next Level Leadership Certified Coach Mentors.
4. Coach Mentor Certification- The fourth level of training is a nine-month process entitled: Next Level CoachNet Certification. It is a combined effort of The Next Level Leadership Network partnering with CoachNet International Ministries to provide coach certification, with the expectation that those certified will mentor others through this process as well.
Certification through CoachNet International Ministries is an intense practicum where candidates for certification will practice coaching with two individuals of their choosing and concludes with a test/feedback tool that confirms the successful completion of the certification requirements.
Candidates will be mentored through this process by previously certified coaches. All certified coach mentors are expected to mentor future candidates at a minimum of three per year to remain actively certified.
