Does Your Offering Make A Difference?
January 2007
Most Southern Baptists don’t realize how important the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is for the mission work of the North American Mission Board (NAMB). I often get the idea that many believe that it really doesn’t matter whether we reach our goals or not.
That is a dangerous kind of ignorance. We need to do all that we can to educate our fellow Southern Baptists that this offering is absolutely essential for the work that we do in touching North America with the message of Jesus Christ.
This year’s offering goal is $57 million. These monies will help the 5,300+ missionaries of NAMB start churches in rural and urban settings. Those missionaries will reach out not only to the majority Anglo culture, but, also, to the wide ethnic diversity that now exists in North America.
NAMB missionaries will share the gospel by focusing on evangelism and ministering to people’s physical and spiritual needs in a variety of settings.
Here is an overview of how this year’s receipts will be spent:
75 percent ($42,750,000) Missionary Support
- Salaries
- Health benefits
- Missionary orientation
15 percent ($8,550,000) Church Planting Support
- Rental of facilities
- Materials
- Promotional expenses
10 percent ($5,700,000) Evangelism Support
- Scripture distribution
- Sports evangelism
- Special evangelism events
- Media campaigns
Does your offering make a difference? Absolutely!!
